Peter John Daniels, a beloved resident of Milford, New Hampshire, passed away on September 29, 2017, at the age of 58. Known throughout his community and especially at Hy-Ten Plastics, Peter Daniels was more than just a name; he was a symbol of reliability, skill, and a unique sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. His passing, attended by his wife Tammy Lenz Daniels, children Adam and Nicolette, and close loved ones at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, marks the end of an era for many who knew and cherished him.
Born to John “Jack” and Katherine “Kitty” (McEntee) Daniels of Milford, Peter Daniels was deeply rooted in his family and local community. He was a cherished brother to Dr. David Daniels, Thomas Daniels, Maureen Daniels, and Martha Daniels Holland, each with their own families who added to Peter’s extensive family circle. The Daniels family in Milford and beyond encompassed not just siblings but also in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all feeling the loss of Peter Daniels. He also held a special bond with the Belanger family of Milford, considering Gail, Normand, Sherri, and Shawn as extended family, showcasing his capacity for creating meaningful connections beyond blood relations.
For over three decades, Peter Daniels dedicated his professional life to Hy-Ten Plastics in Milford. His colleagues there knew him as the indispensable “go-to guy,” a testament to his work ethic and problem-solving abilities. Whether it was a mechanical issue or a complex task, Peter was the one everyone turned to. His commitment and the high regard in which he was held by his Hy-Ten family were evident in the practical and emotional support they provided him, particularly in his final days. This professional dedication was a cornerstone of Peter Daniels’ identity.
Beyond his work, Peter Daniels was a passionate fisherman. Lake Wallis in Canaan, Vermont, held a special place in his heart, serving as a lifelong retreat for both summer and winter adventures. Memories of fishing trips, ice fishing expeditions, boating, tubing, and lakeside meals with his children, nieces, and nephews paint a picture of a man who valued family time and the simple joys of nature. This love for the outdoors and for sharing it with family further defined Peter Daniels’ life.
Described by those who knew him best as persevering, hardworking, and incredibly witty, Peter Daniels possessed a remarkable ability to fix and build almost anything. His hands were tools of creation and repair, reflecting a practical intelligence and a can-do attitude. His humor, often self-deprecating as exemplified by his saying, “If one leg feels longer than the other, it’s probably because I’m pulling it,” brought levity and laughter to any situation. These qualities made Peter Daniels not just a reliable individual but also a delightful presence in the lives of his friends and family.
To celebrate Peter Daniels’ life, calling hours were held on Wednesday, October 4th, at the Smith & Heald Funeral Home in Milford, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick’s Church in Milford on Thursday. His final resting place is in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In remembrance of Peter Daniels, the family suggested that donations be made to Home Health & Hospice Care, Community Hospice House, in Merrimack, NH, honoring the compassionate care he received.
Peter Daniels’ life, though marked by his passing, is remembered as one filled with dedication, skill, humor, and deep family values. His legacy endures in the hearts of all who knew him, a reminder that “Times may change, problems do pass, but family endures.”
