Cage Brewing in St. Pete has rapidly become a cornerstone for local music enthusiasts, thanks to the vision of Christian Walker and Tucker Waud from the band Dead Set Florida. What was once described as “a pile of dirt with a flea market inside” has been transformed into a vibrant hub for emerging musicians. This dynamic venue, Cage Brewing St Pete, is now set to host another edition of Heat Fest, a testament to their commitment to championing the St. Pete music scene.
Heat Fest promises a diverse musical experience, showcasing 20 bands spanning genres from folk to punk, indie rock, psychedelic, and jam, with a spotlight on punk and indie sounds. Performances will take place hourly from 7pm to 11pm on July 19th, 2pm to 11pm on July 20th, and 2pm to 5pm on July 21st. Adding to its appeal, the entire event at Cage Brewing St Pete is free to the public.

Investing in St. Pete’s Musical Talent
Christian Walker, co-owner of Cage Brewing St Pete, emphasizes the festival’s purpose: “Heat Fest is to be part of the development of world-class musicians in St. Pete. Our commitment is to not only help cultivate these musicians and help them to thrive, but for the public—they need to be influenced by music more than anything these days.” This philosophy underscores Cage Brewing St Pete’s dedication to nurturing the local arts community.
To further support musicians, Cage Brewing St Pete provides access to a Ramsdell sound system, a locally sourced gem. This thoughtful amenity eliminates the burden of equipment setup for performers. Christian explains, “We don’t want musicians to have to fuss over setting up their own equipment,” highlighting their focus on creating a musician-friendly environment. Cage Brewing St Pete aims to be a pivotal venue in the city, aspiring to be “one step below Janus,” with ambitions to attract even bigger musical acts in the future.
More Than Just Music at Cage Brewing St Pete
Beyond its dedication to music, Cage Brewing St Pete has evolved into a welcoming space for families. The venue’s redesign includes eye-catching murals and sculptures, such as an octopus and a whale, creating a visually engaging atmosphere. Adding to its unique offerings, Cage Brewing boasts an oak fire pizza oven – a rare feature for a brewery. Christian describes their mission as providing “the community something they deserve, a clean place with music and all the things we offer here,” making Cage Brewing St Pete a comprehensive destination.
