Pete’s RV Center, a leading RV dealership, has officially broadened its reach by acquiring The Trail Center in North Charleston, South Carolina, effective July 1st. This acquisition marks Pete’s RV Center’s sixth dealership and its first venture into the Southeastern United States.
Located conveniently just 11 miles from downtown Charleston, The Trail Center brings a long-standing tradition of outdoor recreation service to the Pete’s RV Center family. Founded in 1966 by Fred Curtis, a former USAF pilot, The Trail Center was established with the vision of providing South Carolina families with opportunities to enjoy quality outdoor time. Over the decades, it has distinguished itself as a dedicated and exclusive dealer of Jayco RVs, building a strong reputation within the community.
Gloria Morgan, who began her journey with The Trail Center as an employee in 1973 and has been the owner since 1993, expressed her positive outlook on the transition. “I am happy to see Pete’s RV come in and carry on with our 55-year tradition of quality customer service,” she stated, highlighting the shared values between the two dealerships.
Chad Shepard, co-owner of Pete’s RV Center, acknowledged the significance of this acquisition by saying, “Gloria Morgan is not only the heart and soul of The Trail Center. She is also a staple in the RV industry. It’s an honor to assume ownership of a business so fondly recognized in Charleston and its surrounding communities.” This reflects Pete’s RV Center’s respect for The Trail Center’s legacy and their commitment to maintaining its esteemed position in the region.
Pete’s RV Center has been a prominent name in the RV industry since its original establishment in South Burlington, Vermont, in 1952. Under the ownership of Chad Shepard, Todd McGinnis, and Scott Borden, the company has strategically expanded its footprint. Their growth includes the acquisition of Rollin-On RV in Schererville, Indiana in May 2011, Van’s RV in South Windsor, Connecticut in September 2015, Macdonald’s RV Center in Plainville, Massachusetts in 2018, and Gayle Kline RV in Plainville, PA in March 2020. The addition of The Trail Center further solidifies Pete’s RV Center’s position as a major player in the RV market, now extending its trusted services to the Southeast.
