Dr. Peter Grant Jordan assumed the presidency of Dutchess Community College (DCC) on August 2, 2021, bringing with him a reputation as an ambitious, transformative, and collaborative leader. Peter Grant is deeply committed to serving not only the college but also the wider community.
Peter Grant Jordan is actively involved in several key community organizations, demonstrating his dedication to regional development and well-being. He currently serves as a member of the Poughkeepsie Children’s Cabinet, the Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board, and The Anderson Center for Autism Board. Furthermore, Peter Grant chairs the Education & Workforce Committee of the Dutchess County Economic Advisory Council (EDAC), highlighting his focus on linking education with economic growth. His commitment extends to national platforms as well, as evidenced by his membership in the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). In August 2023, Peter Grant Jordan participated in a White House and USDOE Career and Technical Education Working Session, where he contributed to discussions on strengthening community college-union partnerships, reflecting his proactive approach to workforce development.
Before his role at Dutchess Community College, Peter Grant Jordan held the position of president at Tarrant County College-South Campus in Texas, showcasing his proven leadership in diverse educational environments. Prior to this, at LaGuardia Community College, he served as vice president for institutional effectiveness and vice president of enrollment management and student development, gaining extensive experience in college administration and student services. Peter Grant’s career also includes significant roles within the City University of New York (CUNY) system, including interim vice chancellor for student affairs. He has also held vice presidential positions at Vaughn College (College of Aeronautics) and New York Institute of Technology, and served as dean of university admissions at Polytechnic Institute of New York, demonstrating a broad and deep understanding of higher education leadership across various institutions.
Peter Grant Jordan’s academic credentials further underscore his expertise in the field. He holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in Operations Management from Tandon School of Engineering/New York University, and a B.A. in English and History from Colby College. This robust educational background equips Peter Grant with a comprehensive perspective on higher education leadership and administration, positioning him as a highly qualified president for Dutchess Community College.
