It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Edward Cross, a cherished soul who left us peacefully at his home on January 5, 2025, at the age of 75. Peter was a devoted husband to Jacqui for 51 wonderful years, a loving father to Sarah (Robert), Andrea (Ashley), and Keith (Rachel), and an adoring grandad to Madison (Harmon), Avery, and Ellery. His furry companion, Presley the cockapoo, also mourns the loss of his doting dog dad.
While Peter dedicated his professional life to IBM, his true passion lay in bringing joy to those around him. He was the ultimate host, meticulously planning gatherings for family and friends, ensuring every guest felt special and catered to. As the self-proclaimed “Head of Food & Beverage,” Peter curated memorable meals, thoughtfully selecting each beverage and dish to delight his guests. Beyond his hosting talents, Peter had a zest for life, embracing hobbies such as golf, passionately following West Ham United Football Club, and finding immense joy in the music of Elton John. Christmas held a special place in his heart, and he enthusiastically coached kids’ soccer, always eager for any occasion that united his family. Peter possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling and was an even more exceptional listener, cherishing connections with those he loved. He masterfully captured memories, creating heartfelt video montages set to personalized playlists, a testament to his thoughtful nature. Above all, Peter’s family was the center of his world. His kindness, humility, and boundless generosity touched countless lives. He was, quite simply, the best son, husband, dad, “Gdad”, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, and golf buddy anyone could have wished for, a blessing beyond measure to all who knew him.
In accordance with Peter’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. Instead, a Celebration of Life, open to all who held Peter dear, will be held in May, with details to be shared in due course.
Peter benefited greatly from the exceptional care provided by the rheumatology and orthopedic surgery teams at University Health Network (UHN). In gratitude for their dedication, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Peter’s memory to the Schroeder Arthritis Institute through the UHN Foundation.
