Hi, I’m Carol, the founder of Hill Country Pet Sitters Plus. Like many in the pet care profession, my life has always revolved around animals. Growing up in Houston, Texas, pets were integral members of my family. From childhood lizards and frogs to later birds, fish, cats, and dogs, my home was always filled with animal companions. Now, I share my life with a cat and a couple of small dogs, and my passion for animal well-being continues to grow.
My academic background might seem unconventional for a pet sitter at first glance. I graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and later earned two master’s degrees in Early Childhood and Mid Management & Administration. For years, I dedicated myself to a fulfilling career in education. However, even while immersed in the world of academia, animals remained a constant in my life. I was always the go-to person for friends needing help with their pets, often jokingly called “Dr. Doolittle” for my ability to connect with and understand animals.
Life took an unexpected turn in 2002 with the heartbreaking loss of my son Chris. During this difficult time, I also became involved in rescuing approximately 100 dogs from a puppy mill. This experience ignited a deep desire to learn everything I could about dog and cat health and care. I spent countless hours with my veterinarian, observing and absorbing knowledge. This period marked a significant shift, leading me to discover my true calling: pet care. People started recognizing my expertise, seeking my advice on their own pets’ well-being, and I was surprised and gratified to find I had the answers.
Following a heart attack and needing a change of pace, I relocated to New Braunfels, Texas, and embraced a new chapter. It was the perfect opportunity to pursue my passion for animals professionally. Thus, Hill Country Pet Sitters Plus was born.
At Hill Country Pet Sitters Plus, I offer a range of services designed to keep your pets happy and comfortable while you’re away. These include professional pet sitting in your home, a cozy in-home boarding experience, overnight stays for continuous care, and grooming services for both cats and dogs. I also provide dog walking and a convenient pet taxi service.
