Have you ever wondered about that boundless excitement your pet displays? It’s like they have an endless supply of energy, especially when their favorite activities are on the horizon. Think about it: the moment you reach for the leash, your dog transforms into a whirlwind of wiggles and happy yelps. This intense enthusiasm, this peak of excitement, might just be what we could call “Pet Mania.” It’s not a clinical condition, but rather a delightful state of heightened energy and emotion that our pets experience and readily share with us. Witnessing this “pet mania” is often contagious. Suddenly, your pet’s zest for life becomes your own. That comfortable couch starts to feel less appealing, and you find yourself energized and ready to join in their enthusiasm.
Take, for instance, a recent experience at Eagle’s Caves Trail, a beautiful spot near Home Depot with clear skies above. Instead of tackling the steep initial climb, we opted for the gentler path along the ridge. My dog, Pippin, relished the freedom of being off-leash, darting ahead with his nose eagerly exploring every scent. As we ventured further, the trail ascended through a tranquil oak forest, leading towards the ridge. Lost in my thoughts and focused on my footing, I followed Pippin. Suddenly, a raucous chorus of crow squawks broke the silence. It was a noisy gathering, almost like a heated debate in the treetops. Initially, I paid it little attention, my gaze still fixed on the path ahead, where Pippin was diligently sniffing the ground, about fifty feet in front of me. Finally, curiosity piqued, I looked up to discover the source of the commotion. There, directly above Pippin, five eagles were circling silently in perfect formation. Their impressive wingspans seemed almost to touch as they wheeled in a tight circle around my small, white dog. Considering Pippin’s size, barely larger than a rabbit or a lamb, he probably looked like a tempting snack to these majestic birds of prey.
