1. Getting Acquainted with Your Machine

Before you start cleaning, it’s essential to understand the different parts of your BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro. Familiarizing yourself with each component will make assembly and operation much smoother.

Here’s a breakdown of the key parts:

  • Handle: For steering and pushing the cleaner.
  • Clean Water Tank: Holds the clean water and formula mixture.
  • Dirty Water Tank: Collects dirty water extracted from carpets.
  • Power Switch: Turns the machine on and off.
  • Cleaning Mode Switch: Selects between different cleaning intensities.
  • Spray Trigger: Dispenses cleaning solution when held.
  • Recline Pedal: Allows you to recline the machine for operation.
  • Hose and Tool Attachments: For cleaning upholstery, stairs, and hard-to-reach areas.
  • CleanShot® Pretreater Button: Activates a targeted spray for tough stains (on some models).

2. Easy Assembly: Putting It Together

Assembling your BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro is straightforward. Follow these simple steps to get it ready for use:

  1. Handle Attachment: Firmly insert the handle into the top of the machine body until you hear a click, ensuring it’s securely in place.

  2. Carry Handle Installation: Align the carry handle with the designated slots on both sides of the machine base. Push down until it clicks securely.

  3. Secure with Screw: Locate the screw taped to the handle. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, tighten the screw into the carry handle to firmly secure it to the machine.

  4. Clean Water Tank Placement: Align the clean water tank with the guiding grooves on the machine and slide it down until it is firmly seated.

3. Choosing the Right Cleaning Mode

The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro offers multiple cleaning modes to suit different needs. Select the appropriate mode based on the type of cleaning you require:

  • Express Clean Mode: Ideal for lightly soiled carpets or quick cleanups. It uses less water and solution, allowing carpets to dry in about 30 minutes, when used as directed.
  • Max Clean/Deep Clean Mode: For heavily soiled carpets and deep stains. This mode uses more water and cleaning solution to penetrate deep into carpet fibers, ensuring a thorough clean. Note that this mode will require longer drying time.

4. Filling the Clean Water Tank Properly

Correctly filling the clean water tank is crucial for effective cleaning. Follow these steps to prepare the tank with water and formula:

  1. Remove the Tank: Detach the clean water tank from the machine by lifting it straight up.

  2. Unscrew the Cap: Unscrew the cap from the tank to access the filling area.

  3. Fill with Water and Formula: The tank has fill lines for different cleaning modes and formula types.

    • For Express Clean: Fill warm tap water (maximum 140°F or 60°C) to the “EXPRESS CLEAN WATER” line, then add BISSELL formula to the “EXPRESS CLEAN FORMULA” line.
    • For Max/Deep Clean: Fill warm tap water to the “MAX/DEEP CLEAN WATER” line, then add BISSELL formula to the “MAX/DEEP CLEAN FORMULA” line.
    • For Antibacterial Formula (Easy Fill): Use the “EASY FILL” lines for water and antibacterial formula.

Important: Always use warm tap water (not hot) to avoid damaging the tank and for optimal cleaning performance.

  4. Easy Fill System (Antibacterial Formula): If using BISSELL Antibacterial formula with the easy fill system, replace the yellow cap on the tank. Insert the formula bottle into the cap and squeeze until the formula reaches the “EASY FILL” line.

  5. Use Genuine BISSELL Formulas: For best results and to prevent damage to your machine, always use genuine BISSELL cleaning formulas. Compatible formulas include: Clean + Refresh, PET Stain & Odor, PRO MAX Clean + Protect, PET PRO OXY Urine Eliminator, PET Stain Pretreat, PET PRO OXY Stain Destroyer, PET Pretreat + Sanitize, Pet Stain & Odor + Antibacterial, OXY Boost, and PET OXY Boost.

  6. Replace the Tank: Securely place the filled clean water tank back onto the machine, ensuring it’s fully seated.

5. Cleaning Carpets and Area Rugs Effectively

Follow these steps to deep clean your carpets and area rugs with your BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro:

  1. Pre-Vacuum: Before wet cleaning, thoroughly vacuum the area to remove loose dirt, debris, and pet hair. This prevents clogging and maximizes the cleaner’s effectiveness.

  2. Plug In and Power On: Plug the machine into a grounded outlet. Ensure your desired cleaning mode is selected, then press the power button to turn the machine ON.

  3. Recline the Machine: Step on the recline pedal to lower the handle and engage the cleaning brushes.

  4. Dispense Cleaning Solution: Hold the spray trigger on the handle to dispense water and cleaning solution. Prime the machine by holding the trigger for about 10 seconds initially to saturate the brush roll. Solution is dispensed only when the trigger is held.

  5. Cleaning Strokes: Use slow, overlapping passes. Refer to the cleaning guidelines chart for recommended strokes based on your chosen mode:

  6. Dry Passes: Release the spray trigger and make dry passes over the cleaned area to suction up excess water. Continue dry passes until minimal water is being extracted.

  7. CleanShot® Pretreater (If Equipped): For stubborn stains, activate the CleanShot® Pretreater by pressing the button on the machine foot. A green “I” indicates it’s ON, and a red “O” means it’s OFF. Spray the stain until saturated, turn CleanShot® OFF, let it sit for 5 minutes, then clean as usual.

6. Utilizing Hose and Tools for Spot Cleaning

For cleaning upholstery, stairs, pet beds, and other spots, use the hose and tool attachments:

  1. Attach the Hose: Open the accessory hose door located on the machine’s foot. Insert the hose with the colored release clip facing outward until it clicks into place. Attach your desired cleaning tool to the hose end.

  2. Spray and Scrub: Hold the tool slightly above the stain and press the spray trigger to apply cleaning solution. Release the trigger and gently scrub the stain using the tool’s brush or scrubbing surface.

  3. Suction Up Mess: Tilt the tool forward to ensure the suction channel makes contact with the surface. Move the tool slowly backwards to suction up the dirty solution and stain. Repeat until the area is clean and dry.

Note: The brush rolls continue to rotate when the machine is upright, even when using the hose. Place the machine on a protected surface to avoid damage.

7. Emptying and Maintaining the Dirty Water Tank

Regularly emptying the dirty water tank is essential for maintaining suction and cleaning efficiency.

  1. Remove the Dirty Water Tank: When the dirty water tank is full (you may notice a change in machine sound or reduced suction), press down the tank handle and tilt the tank forward to remove it. Use both hands for stability.

  2. Empty Dirty Water: Pull the rubber tab on top of the tank and carefully pour out the dirty water.

  3. Clean the Float Stack: Unscrew the ring at the bottom of the tank and remove the float stack. Rinse it to remove any debris, ensuring the colored part moves freely. Rinse out the dirty water tank to remove any residue.

  4. Reassemble the Tank: Reinstall the float stack, aligning the arrow on the stack with the mark on the tank. Twist the ring back on tightly to prevent leaks. Ensure the rubber tab is securely closed.

  5. Clean the Red Filter: Before replacing the dirty water tank, check and clean the red filter located below the tank housing on the machine. Remove any lint or debris.

  6. Reinstall Dirty Water Tank: Place the bottom of the tank into the machine first, then tilt the top into place until it clicks securely.

By following these steps, you can effectively use your BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro to keep your carpets and upholstery clean and fresh, eliminating pet stains and odors. Regular use and maintenance will ensure your machine operates at its best for years to come. Happy cleaning!
