The Hillsborough Pet Resource Center offers two main types of adoptions to accommodate different situations and pet needs: Ready-to-Go Adoptions and Pre-Adoptions.
Ready-to-Go Adoptions: Take Your Pet Home Today
“Ready-to-go” pets are animals that have completed their mandatory “Stray Hold” period and have already been spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated. This means these animals are ready to become part of your family immediately! Unless specified otherwise, the adoption fee for all “ready-to-go” pets is $20, making it an incredibly affordable way to add a loving companion to your life.
Pre-Adoptions: Early Opportunity to Adopt
For those interested in pets still within their “hold period” and awaiting veterinary services, the Pre-Adoption program is available. This allows you to start the adoption process early, although these pets cannot go home with you until they have received all necessary vaccinations and procedures. It’s important to know that the Hillsborough Pet Resource Center cannot hold or reserve animals outside of this pre-adoption process. Similar to ready-to-go adoptions, the pre-adoption fee is $20, unless otherwise stated, and it’s important to remember that pre-adoption prices do not include the $20 rabies license fee.
