We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Petco Love for their invaluable support, which empowers life-changing initiatives at the Nebraska Humane Society, a dedicated pet shelter. Their partnership is instrumental in enabling the shelter to offer second chances to dogs through innovative programs like the Molly Project. We deeply appreciate Petco Love’s commitment to assisting pets and the people who cherish them.
The Nebraska Humane Society also collaborates with Petco Love Lost, leveraging cutting-edge image recognition technology to simplify the process of reuniting lost pets with their families by searching a comprehensive national database.
What Makes Us a Leading Pet Shelter?
The Nebraska Humane Society stands as a private, non-profit organization committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming thousands of animals annually, functioning as a crucial pet shelter for the community. We extend our services to Omaha and Sarpy County by providing comprehensive animal control. As an open-admission shelter, we embrace all lost, abandoned, unwanted, and mistreated pets, offering refuge when they have nowhere else to turn. Our primary mission is to reunite lost animals with their owners, nurse the sick back to health, and facilitate adoptions for homeless pets whenever possible. To achieve this, our dedicated team provides essential medical treatments, including disease management, fracture repair, wound care, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and behavior modification support for dogs exhibiting fear or unruliness. Furthermore, this pet shelter proactively works to keep pets in their loving homes by offering pet owner education, accessible training programs, complimentary behavior assistance, and promoting responsible pet ownership throughout the community. Sustaining Our Pet Shelter: Where Your Donations Go
The Nebraska Humane Society operates as an independent, non-profit corporation, relying heavily on the generosity of private donations to function as a leading pet shelter. We do not receive funding from tax levies, nor do we benefit from dues or donations directed to national animal welfare organizations. Our operational costs, encompassing the sheltering of tens of thousands of animals each year, our comprehensive animal medical program, state-of-the-art animal care facilities, adoption counseling services, pet training initiatives, and the transformative Molly Project, are sustained through contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations. Additionally, this pet shelter generates revenue through adoption fees, sales at our Animal Outfitters retail store, and service fees for training classes, humane education camps, and private pet cremations. With ongoing community support, we can continue our life-saving mission as a vital pet shelter.
