Currently, her own animal family is quite extensive and includes three cats, two rabbits, a bearded dragon, a Jackson chameleon, two crested geckos, and even tarantulas and scorpions, showcasing her comfort and expertise with a wide range of species. Aubrey is eager to expand her experiences with more animal companions and deepen her knowledge of their care. Joining our team feels like a perfect fit for Aubrey, aligning with her lifelong ambition to dedicate her life to animal welfare. Olivia Byrd: Combining Veterinary Assistance with Community Firefighting

Olivia Byrd brings a unique blend of skills and dedication to Collierville Pet Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant with 5 years of experience, Olivia’s passion for animal care is deeply ingrained. Adding to her commitment to service, Olivia is also a full-time Fire Fighter, demonstrating her dedication to helping both people and animals in our community. She shares her life with two dogs, Sadie and Johnny Cash, and enjoys outdoor adventures with them, including kayaking with Cash, fishing, and spending quality time with her family. Olivia’s dual roles highlight her caring nature and her commitment to the well-being of the Collierville community and their pets.

Melanie Simmonds: From Paralegal Expertise to Animal Welfare Advocacy

Melanie Simmonds brings a wealth of diverse experience and a profound love for animals to Collierville Pet Hospital. After a successful career spanning over 25 years as a paralegal software trainer, Melanie felt a strong calling to dedicate her skills to animal welfare. Her passion led her to become the Director of Soft Landings Waterfowl Rescue, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on rescuing abandoned domestic waterfowl. It was through her rescue work that Melanie connected with Dr. Pope and our team. Her personal commitment to animal welfare is evident in her own flock, which includes around 30 ducks and geese (many with special needs), four special needs chickens, and an Amazon parrot, alongside four feline companions. Melanie’s expertise extends beyond waterfowl rescue, encompassing a deep understanding of animal care and a compassionate heart for all creatures. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys creative hobbies such as knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch. Her transition from the legal field to animal care highlights her dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in and around Collierville.
