Peter Sonski: A Profile of the American Solidarity Party’s 2024 Presidential Nominee

Peter Sonski, a 61-year-old New Englander with deep roots in community service and a commitment to common-good principles, is poised to represent the American Solidarity Party (ASP) in the 2024 presidential election. Married with nine adult children and six grandchildren, Sonski’s life experiences and professional background have shaped his dedication to public service and the values of the ASP.

Born and raised in New England, Peter Sonski’s educational foundation was built in public schools before he pursued higher education at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. There, he earned both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree, setting the stage for a diverse career spanning journalism, public relations, insurance, and business administration. His formative years in the nation’s capital included significant roles such as Director of Communications for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, a prominent religious and cultural landmark, and Assistant Editor at the National Catholic Register, a well-respected Catholic news publication. These positions honed his communication skills and provided him with a national perspective on important issues.

Sonski’s commitment to public service extends beyond his professional life. For over a dozen years, he has been actively involved in local government. Currently concluding his second term on Connecticut’s Regional School District 17 board of education, he has contributed to a period of recognized excellence within the district. During his tenure, the district’s two elementary schools earned the distinction of Connecticut Schools of Distinction for Overall Achievement in 2022. Further highlighting the district’s success, its high school principal was named the National High School Principal of the Year, and its middle school achieved national recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School. Prior to his service on the school board, Sonski served as chairman of the municipal board of finance and as a member of the board of selectmen, gaining valuable experience in municipal governance and fiscal responsibility.

Politically, Peter Sonski’s journey reflects a thoughtful and evolving approach. Having been registered as both a Democrat and a Republican, he has been unaffiliated for over two decades, demonstrating an independent political stance. His policy views are deeply informed by his faith, particularly concerning life issues and social justice. This foundation led him to the American Solidarity Party in 2018, which he found to be a compelling alternative in the current political landscape. He embraced the ASP’s principles and platform, publicly aligning himself with the party while serving as an elected official.

A long-standing advocate for the pro-life movement, Peter Sonski also champions broader social justice issues, including the abolition of capital punishment and advocating for clemency for those on death row. He has actively worked to prevent the legalization of assisted suicide in Connecticut, a cause he has supported since the issue first arose in the state in 1994. Demonstrating his commitment to community welfare, Sonski coordinates a bimonthly blood drive at his church hall, a successful initiative that has collected over 1,500 units of blood for individuals in need, showcasing his practical approach to helping others.

As a father and grandfather, Peter Sonski understands the importance of family well-being. His policy priorities include robust tax credits and incentives designed to strengthen families and support essential needs such as living wages, affordable housing, quality healthcare, educational opportunities, and proper nutrition. These issues will be central to his policy initiatives as the ASP’s 2024 presidential nominee. Furthermore, Sonski is a strong advocate for workers and local businesses, aiming to foster the development of a broad ownership economy through strategic incentives. He also prioritizes the preservation of farmland and the expansion of open space initiatives, alongside supporting business cooperatives and community enterprises, reflecting a holistic vision for economic and community development.

Peter Sonski’s campaign aims to present the American Solidarity Party’s values comprehensively and authentically, without compromise. His primary objective as the presidential nominee is to expand the ASP’s reach and influence. He intends to focus on ballot access initiatives and collaborate with state chapters to promote the party’s core principles and recruit and train local candidates. By presenting the ASP’s distinct values to a politically polarized electorate, Peter Sonski seeks to appeal to voters who are disillusioned with the current political gridlock and are seeking common-ground solutions.

Peter Sonski’s extensive experience in both government and campaigning positions him as a valuable asset to the American Solidarity Party, offering a significant opportunity for the party to grow and present a compelling alternative to the American electorate in 2024.
