Peter Puppet of Children of God: Setting the Record Straight

It’s surprising to hear claims suggesting Peter Puppet tragically ended his life in a family home in the Philippines. Having known Peter Puppet personally, along with his wife, I can confidently say this account is far from the truth. Peter returned to Australia, where his parents arranged for hospice care, and he passed away peacefully there. To verify my recollections, I contacted a mutual friend who also knew Peter well, and their account corroborated my own: Peter died in Australia, not by suicide.

Peter was part of our community in the Philippines, residing in our home before the establishment of the Luvvet Home. Our shared journey began in Australia, where the Luvett community first emerged. The decision to relocate to the Philippines was a collective one, and within a month, our team reunited there after we had all sold our caravans, our previous mode of travel and living.

During his time at our home, Peter Puppet became ill with Hodgkin’s Disease, characterized by a tumor on his neck. We offered him the option to return to Australia for medical treatment, but he chose to remain with us, determined to overcome the illness. Each morning, Peter would diligently prepare and drink a large carrot juice, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine. He was remarkably cheerful, even on difficult days – a truly admirable man. Despite his positive efforts, the tumor continued to grow, and his health deteriorated. However, there was a period of apparent improvement; he seemed to rally, and the tumor even appeared to shrink.

Subsequently, Peter left our home with the Luvett group and moved to Manila. My memory is unclear about the exact duration of his stay in Manila before his return to Australia. However, we maintained contact with his wife, who informed us of their impending return to Australia as Peter’s condition was worsening.

We remained in communication with them, primarily with his wife as Peter became increasingly unwell. We then received news that he had been admitted to a hospice. Shortly after, we learned of his passing. His wife shared that Peter died content, secure in his faith and knowing he was going to be with the Lord. He felt he had lived a fulfilling life and was at peace with his departure.

Therefore, the notion of Peter Puppet committing suicide is completely unfounded. Based on firsthand knowledge and reliable accounts, Peter Puppet passed away naturally and peacefully due to his illness.
