The St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show wrapped up another successful year, proving once again why it’s hailed as a premier boating event on the Gulf Coast. Even a bit of Sunday rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of attendees and exhibitors alike at the St Pete Boat Show.
“It doesn’t take away the excitement,” commented Captain Todd Nicusanti, highlighting the resilient enthusiasm of the crowd. “It does kind of slow traffic down a little bit,” he acknowledged, but the core energy of the show remained vibrant.
Recognized as the largest boat show on the Gulf Coast and even lauded by USA Today as the best in the nation, the St Pete Boat Show drew in crowds eager to explore an impressive display of over 500 boats. From luxurious yachts to versatile duck boats equipped with ATVs, and a vast selection of sailboats, the variety was a major draw.
“It’s pretty cool. We love it,” shared an enthusiastic couple, echoing the sentiments of many visitors captivated by the sheer scale and diversity of vessels on display at the St Pete Boat Show.
Anderson Harwell, Sales Director at YSY Yacht Sales, showcased a stunning yacht built in Turkey from African Mahogany hardwood. This particular yacht, featuring two staterooms, became a focal point, attracting significant attention at this year’s St Pete Boat Show.
“It’s a very stable ride and excellent handling characteristics,” Harwell explained, detailing its performance capabilities. “Cruise speed of 24/ 25 knots. Top speed at 29 knots.” For those considering a boat purchase, Harwell offered practical advice: “Try not to bite off more than you can chew. Don’t get something that’s going to intimidate you or your significant other. That’ll ruin the day and the ownership of the yacht.” This expert insight is invaluable for anyone navigating the boat market after experiencing the impressive displays at the St Pete Boat Show.
Beyond the boats themselves, the St Pete Boat Show offered a comprehensive experience for boat enthusiasts. Attendees explored vendors showcasing cool supplies and tools, water sports equipment, and local marine businesses like Sea Tow. For those new to boating or seeking to enhance their skills, the Annapolis School of Seamanship was present, with captains offering on-the-water lessons.
“We had a lot of opportunities to bring people to the water,” Capt. Nicusanti noted, emphasizing the educational aspect of the St Pete Boat Show. A key theme throughout the event was safety. “Safety first always,” Capt. Nicusanti stressed. “And certainly check weather. Weather is a big influence. Always remember you don’t want to be out in the middle of Thunder and lightning.”
For individuals unable to attend the St Pete Boat Show or located outside of Annapolis, the Annapolis School of Seamanship now offers online safety courses, expanding accessibility to boating education. “It’s new this year,” Capt. Nicusanti mentioned, highlighting this valuable resource.
