Pete’s RV Center, a well-known name in the recreational vehicle industry, has officially broadened its reach into the Southeastern United States. On July 1st, the Vermont-based company finalized the acquisition of The Trail Center, an established RV dealership located in North Charleston, South Carolina. This marks Pete’s RV’s sixth dealership and its first venture into the Southeast market, signaling a significant expansion for the company.
The Trail Center, situated just a short drive from downtown Charleston, brings with it a rich history and a strong reputation in the region. Founded in 1966 by Fred Curtis, a former Air Force pilot, The Trail Center was built on the vision of fostering outdoor family time within the South Carolina Low Country. Over the decades, it has grown to become a premier, exclusive dealer of Jayco RVs, recognized for its commitment to customer service and quality products.
Gloria Morgan, who began her journey with The Trail Center as an employee in 1973 and has been the owner since 1993, expressed her enthusiasm for the transition. “I am happy to see Pete’s RV come in and carry on with our 55-year tradition of quality customer service,” she stated, highlighting the shared values between the two dealerships.
Chad Shepard, co-owner of Pete’s RV, also commented on the acquisition, emphasizing the significance of The Trail Center’s legacy. “Gloria Morgan is not only the heart and soul of The Trail Center. She is also a staple in the RV industry. It’s an honor to assume ownership of a business so fondly recognized in Charleston and its surrounding communities,” Shepard noted. This acquisition reflects Pete’s RV’s strategic growth, building upon its established success in the Northeast and Midwest. Pete’s RV Center’s journey began in South Burlington, Vermont, in 1952, and has since expanded strategically with locations in Schererville, Indiana, South Windsor, Connecticut, Plainville, Massachusetts, and Plainville, Pennsylvania. The addition of The Trail Center is a testament to Pete’s RV’s ongoing commitment to growth and serving the RV community across a wider geographical area.
